I have been teaching patchwork and quilting for more than 20 years both independently and at a local patchwork shop. I am now a free-lance tutor in my own studio in Weymouth.
My work encompasses my passion for colouring fabrics through painting, dyeing and printing and machine quilting. Inspiration is drawn from areas I have lived and visited. These include the
Jurassic Coast around Weymouth and Portland where I am now based and Papua New Guinea, where I lived for 10 years. Travel with my husband and family has also taken me to many exotic - an not so
exotic places - which often become the starting point for exploration and pieces of work.
I offer workshops and classes with a fully trained and certified Teacher in textiles and art. I also hold further qualifications to support adult students and those with special needs and City
and Guilds Patchwork and Quilting Level 3 qualification up to Diploma with Certificate of Excellence.
I offer leisure classes weekly where students are able to learn the basics of patchwork and quilting or develop the skills the already have. I am also able to offer classes in design for
patchwork and quilting, teaching the skills required for students to design their own quilts.
I am a member of the Quilter's Guild of the British Isles and a Member of the Contemporary Quilt Group. I am also an accredited judge for the Quilters' Guild of the British Isles having completed the Quilt Judging Qualification. I now tutor this course for the Quilters' Guild. I am also a member of South West Quilters. I have
also been appointed Quilt Judge by South West Quilters.
I have been a member of the Dorset Arts and Crafts Association for a number of years . I attend the yearly exhibition as a stall
holder and am actively involved as a committee members in the organisation of the exhibition, taking responsibility for the display of patchwork and quilting.
I can also be seen at the Canford Needlework Festival each year with a stall selling fabrics and other requirements for patchwork and quilting.
